Yemeni al-Qaida leaders slapped with financial sanctions by the U.S.. This is the same group that claimed responsibility for the failed Christmas Day bombing attempt on a Detroit-bound airliner.
The sanctions include a travel ban and a freeze on freeze.
An arms embargo against Qasim al-Raimi, a top military commander for al-Qaida in the Yemen, has been but in place.
Also, targeted is Nayif al-Qah-tani, who manages the group's operations in the country, and served as a link between al-Qaida cells in Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
